AC Milan’s Double Blow: Home Loss to Udinese, Füllkrug Misses Key Chances

AC Milan has suffered a significant setback in Serie A, and the club must now worry about qualifying for the Champions League.

The third-placed team lost 0-3 (0-2) to Udinese Calcio, with substitute Niclas Füllkrug on the field for a portion of the match, delivering a poor performance.

Chasing Juventus Turin won their match 1-0 (0-0) against Atalanta Bergamo later that evening, bringing them within three points of Milan. Como 1907, currently fifth, faces league leaders Inter Milan on Sunday (8:45 PM / DAZN).

Niclas Füllkrug Comes Close to Scoring Contributions

Udinese took the lead in the 27th minute through an own goal by Davide Bartesaghi, who deflected Arthur Atta’s shot decisively. Jurgen Ekkelenkamp added to the score with a header in the 37th minute, and Atta sealed the victory with a well-placed shot in the 71st minute.

German striker Füllkrug was substituted in at the start of the second half for right-back Zachary Athekame. However, he had little luck in his most notable moments. First, after strong build-up play from Rafael Leão, he headed just wide of the post from an excellent position (56th minute). Later, he skillfully laid the ball off for fellow substitute Youssouf Fofana, but Udinese’s goalkeeper Maduka Okoye made the save (67th minute).
