Abate Reacts After Ternana Sacking: “I Accept the Club’s Decision with a Clear Conscience”

`Abate

At the beginning of February, Ternana experienced the unexpected dismissal of coach Ignazio Abate. It was a swift dismissal, especially considering he was recalled just hours later after discussions between the club management, the team, and the fans, who all wanted him back. Rumors suggested he was initially let go for not including the president`s son, Mattya Alessandro, in the squad list, although this was never officially confirmed.

On Tuesday, a new chapter unfolded in this strange situation. Despite being in second place in the league, Abate was indeed dismissed, and Fabio Liverani has been appointed as his replacement.

Following these events, Abate bid farewell to the Umbrian team with a message on his Instagram profile:

“With great regret, but also with immense gratitude, I want to say goodbye to Ternana, the city, its people, and the Rossoverde fans who have supported us with passion and enthusiasm in recent months. Your warmth has made this experience unforgettable; your support has been the true soul of the team and will continue to be so.

Thanks to my players, the real protagonists of a journey that, even in difficult moments, demonstrated the value of a united and determined group, making the extraordinary seem ordinary. It has been a true honor to lead you!!

Thanks to director Carlo Mammarella for his great work and support during these nine months, and thanks to all the people who worked with us daily.

I accept the club`s decision with a clear conscience, knowing that I gave everything, always worked with integrity, professionalism, and respect for the club and the city.

Forza Fere!
Ignazio.”
